As per the request of my mother, I am posting pictures of the finished coffee table in-room along with the finished lamps and re-covered stool purchased before Christmas.

You can see the faint outline where she was. This makes me think I will end up painting the tray.

Trash to Treasure

I must say I am rather proud of myself today. Yesterday, while thrifting, I came across 2 brass lamps at $10 (nz) each. Now, I've been looking for awhile for something transformable to the tune of shine/jonathan adler lamps. These had some good bones and so I snapped them up.

Next stop . . . sanding and spraypaint.



And finally, I had to find some lampshades. Now, at this point the lamps were no longer $10 each, and I knew that with lampshades they would be more. But to keep a long story short, K-Mart saved my hiney with two (the last two) hessian (burlap) shades which turned out to be the perfect size for my now lovely lamps. Ta Daaaa.



In conclusion, the lamps probably cost around $40 each, but here in NZ, that's a bit of a bargain anyway for such nice lamps. Who would have known??

Also, I will be sleeping in the back of a car tonight and tomorrow night just so I can be close to my husband. Ah, love. . . and backaches.

In our next episode we will see how this pocahontas tray turns out.





Yes, she is one of those metallic images. The tray has nice urethaning, but I'm not sure I like the wood. We shall see.
