Any of you who would read this blog will know that we are expecting a baby boy this year. We have only about 5 weeks left until his due date of the 30th of March. Most of the pregnancy has gone really well. Nausea but no barfing. Stretch marks. No belly button popping out (yet). Typical stuff I suppose. We've gotten most of our ducks in a row and now only need to finish up a couple of things before our little one arrives.
Some of you may know that I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes a few weeks ago. Aside from the restricted diet, the stress and uncertainty about how the next few weeks and labour itself will progress has made life a little overwhelming at times. I want to thank everyone for the prayers we know you are winging up for our little family. I saw the diabetes doctor yesterday and since I have been able to keep my blood sugar levels down, it seems that I won't have to be put on any regulatory medicine which is a big relief. If medicine was involved it would have meant a transfer of hospitals and midwives which I think would have been very difficult emotionally at this late stage in pregnancy. We are very thankful that this option seems to have passed us by (but we still appreciate any and all prayer on the subject).
I had an ultrasound today to determine growth and position of the baby. He is not too big (which is a worry in babies with diabetic mothers) but he is sitting in a frank breech position. Imagine him folded in half! His little legs were all stretched out with his feet by his head. I see the midwife on Friday and I'm sure we'll discuss options relating to having him turned at the hospital or leaving him be. Still don't know when or how he'll make his debut into this big world, but we're trusting the Lord that it will be the right story at the right time!
Hopefully I'll have some nursery pictures for you this week. Just finishing up some final details!
